Congratulations to Professor Debbie Hay and Dr Michael Garelja who’ve been awarded a $941,000 Marsden Fund grant for their promising migraine research. They’ll investigate whether two CGRP-responsive receptors are “double trouble” in migraine. This builds on research carried out with earlier funding from the Neurological Foundation.
“The First Fellowship from the Neurological Foundation has been instrumental for me getting to this point,” says Michael. “It allowed me to develop new research skills and helped widen the scope of how we think about the CGRP family of neuropeptides in migraine. This future research will hopefully improve understanding of current migraine therapeutics, and aid in the development of better migraine drugs.” – Michael Garelja
