Congratulations to Associate Professor Debbie Young who has been awarded a $941,000 Marsden Fund grant for her exciting work in gene therapy. She’ll investigate harnessing disease-specific signals to make sure gene therapy targets only vulnerable cells in the brain. This builds on work carried out with earlier funding from the Neurological Foundation. “The Marsden Fund supports ‘blue-sky’ potentially transformative research,” says Debbie. “The support the Foundation provides is invaluable in helping neuroscientists like me get novel ideas off the ground so we can take the next big steps in making significant advances in medical technologies like gene therapy.” – Debbie Young
