Put the FUN in Fundraising

Rich Easton, CEO of the Neurological Foundation raises hope while participating in Round the Bays and now, so can you!

Earlier this year we launched our rebrand, A Pathway to Hope. With this rebrand came several new initiatives including our community fundraising programme, Raising Hope. This new initiative utilises the website Everyday Hero where future fundraisers can select to raise money for the Foundation while completing different challenges or celebrations. We have already had a couple of successful fundraising campaigns and we are looking to grow that number throughout the next year. We anticipate that Raising Hope will allow us to connect with more communities across New Zealand, spreading the word about what the Neurological Foundation does. We have one of the most engaging and loyal supporter bases in the country, and we want you involved to help us grow our supporter base and raise awareness.

This year we are pleased to announce that we are an official charity partner with Round the Bays 2020. We currently have 30 individual people who will be fundraising on behalf of the Neurological Foundation on the 8 March including the Foundation’s CEO, Richard Easton. Rich and his family have been doing Round the Bays for the past 5 years, “we love the sense of ‘Auckland’ coming together for a day and use it as an opportunity to have some fun (we’ve always put on fancy dress)” he says. Rich and his family live in Papakura, he has been the CEO of the Neurological Foundation for the past 2 years and 5 months. He's "passionate about seeing communities thrive through the volunteer work [done at events like Round the Bays]" and is active in several other charities across New Zealand.

Round the Bays has always been about “participating in something fun that also helps organisations working for social good” and he encourages everyone in the office to try and get involved in these types of activities. Rich says the most positive thing you can get out of these types of community fundraising events is “seeing the smiles of everyone involved”If you’re wavering about getting involved or not sure you’ll enjoy it, Rich has some words of encouragement to share with our community, “give it a go, it can be fun and a great way to connect with a cause you’re passionate about”.

In the past years, he and his family have put on a show for the Round the Bays participants dressing up as Minions, Star Wars characters, Clowns, Dinosaurs and many more. We’re unsure what this year’s costume combination will be, but we are positive it will delight Round the Bay goers. Make sure you drop by the Neurological Foundation booth to see what Rich and his family have dressed up as this year.
