The Brain Bee internship day at the University of Otago was an amazing experience that provided insight into the world of neuroscience and research. My favourite part was visiting the anatomy museum - seeing both the models and real human specimens was confronting yet fascinating, and it helped me understand various concepts which I had only read about previously. A particularly surprising and memorable moment was visiting the Eccles Building, where we got to see how research is conducted on animal models. It was interesting to learn about the security and compliance involved with animal research. I am currently considering a career in medicine or neuroscience, and this day showed what these careers may involve. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and am extremely grateful that I was given this opportunity.
Thank you for sponsoring the internship - it was a great experience and I am really happy that I went.
